Here’s hoping all your wishes and dreams come true in the coming year. Have a wonderful holiday season.
It would be wise to get out of this little hooligan’s way. I sketched this out in early September but never finished it as other more pressing projects kept me occupied. She’s been yelling at me ever since. So I finished her up today. Maybe now I’ll have some peace and quiet?

This month the ABC of Lessor Known Goddesses features Kebechet. She is the daughter of Anubis the Egyptian God of the Dead. Her job is to carry water to Her father for the purification of the dead’s souls.

I joined a new blog group this week called Watercolor Wednesdays. The members have to be watercolor artists doing children’s book illustration. Every Wednesday we receive a prompt for a new painting. This week’s prompt is “this little piggy.” We are to let our imaginations run wild, and mine is working over time. So much so I haven’t been able to decide what to do yet.
Work on Rabbit’s Song is moving along smoothly. The rough layout for the cover has received approval and I am busy finalizing all the changes and tiny details. The publisher will be making the book available for pre-order as soon as the cover receives final approval. The authors and I will all be appearing together in Tennessee for a pre-release party. All the books pre-ordered before the mid October event will be signed by all three of us. I am very excited about this.
I’ve decided that watching the scale inch up over the summer has got to end. I got my bike out of the basement and dusted off the cobwebs yesterday morning. I rode out to the post office and back in the morning. It actually felt kind of good to be doing something just for me. In fact it felt so good that I decided to ride the bike down to A Visual Impact in the afternoon to get my hair cut. (Check out the logo — I designed it for them.) I arrived at the shop without incident, got my hair cut and started on my way home. I took the main drag home (fewer hills) instead of taking the side streets I traveled on my way downtown. That was a mistake. Not only was the traffic heavier, the folks in the cars seemed to think they needed to honk their horns at me as they drove past. The side of the rode is not in good repair, so it was tough going. I gritted my teeth and struggled on until I cam to the rail road tracks. The tracks cut across the road at an angle. I was attempting to pedal my sorry self across them and avoid the worst of the potholes and road debris when a car swooshed by rather closely with horn blaring. It startled me and I took my eyes off the road momentarily to see the car rush past only to have the front tire of the bike catch in the track and get stuck. Needless to say, I kept going and my bike didn’t. OW! I now have a nice pair of matching road rash on my right knee and left leg.
I wear leather biking gloves, so my hands are undamaged. A good thing because I used them to stop my face from landing in the gravel by the side of the road.
Suffice it to say, I won’t be traveling that section of road again!

Enodia and “Watchers”

Dear Friends,
Things have been rather hectic here. Good, but hectic. I will be handing in my resignation at my part time job tomorrow. This will give me two more work days to devote to painting, drawing and writing.
I’m going to need it. My third book “Watchers” is in the final stages of production, the story has been edited a half dozen times; gone over with a fine tooth comb to make it just right. The cover has been painted. The interior images are busy telling me how they want to look, and starting Thursday, I will be deep in the throws of artistic nirvana creating the wonderful watercolors you have come to expect in my books.

This book is something different. Not particularly Pagan, but a fun little rhyming bedtime story with the contribution of a short poem from one of my mailing list members.

I have to get all the paintings done by the beginning of March, so there will be no February coloring page. I just can’t seem to work on more than one project at a time. The January coloring page is up now for download. This month I changed to a jpg as some folks were having trouble with the pdf. This month the lessor known Goddess is Enodia. She was a minor Goddess who was later merged with Hecate. Endoia is the guardian of gates and crossroads.

I love to hear from you. Write with questions, comments or suggestions. Hearing from you makes my day.
Bright Blessings,
Lyon

December 1st, 2007 >> Finished, Illustration, Thoughts
We are down to the last month of 2007. I don’t know about you, but this year just flew by for me. I still catch myself writing April on a check every once in a while. I guess my life has moved into the speed of light, and left my brain behind!
Today I had the dubious pleasure of creating a cake in the shape of the United States (continental only) with my 13 year old. I say dubious, because every time I laughed — I was having fun — she growled at me. I miss the little girl who hung on my every word. I don’t mind the growing up part so much, but I truly am tired of being “the enemy.” I know eventually we’ll be friends again, but I want it now!!!
I am hard at work on my next picture book “Watchers” due out in the Spring of 2008. This book will just be for fun, although it will be Pagan friendly, it will not be overtly Pagan. join the Magical Child Books News for updates and pre-order announcements.
Thank you for all the folks who entered the FIRST book give-away contest. If this one is successful, I will continue to have them. I’d love your feedback and suggestions on how I can bring you more as newsletter subscribers. E-mail me with ideas, comments and kudos! Artist and writers spend an awful lot of time alone and I’d love to hear what you guys are thinking.

This month is The Dark Maid. Next month will bring the “e” Goddess in the series of Lessor Know Goddesses. These ABC Goddesses coloring pages are now available in a beautiful collection coloring book directly from the publisher. Visit their web site to order your own copy or visit your favorite book seller.
I’ll be in deep creative hibernation for the next several months finalizing “Watchers”, spending time with my family and gearing up for next year’s festival tour season. If you know of a group or book store that would like for me to make an appearance, please send me the contact information and I’ll see if I can make it out to your next of the woods.
Have a safe and happy holiday season. I’ll see you next year, and thanks for reading.
Bright chilly blessings,
Lyon

This week’s Illustration Friday theme word is “moon.” So I figured I just link to the cover image already on my blog. Imagine my suprise when I discovered I hadn’t put it up here yet!!!! I have been so focused on geting the book done and out to press that things like blogging and grocery shopping have taken a sabbatical!
So, without further ado…
The cover image for my newest book “Aidan’s First Full Moon Circle” published by Magical Child Books Jan 2008.
